In the end of nineteenth century ，the French ballet declined apparently ，giving away to the opera art。After the first world War,group of Russian performers operated private ballet school,training more than a generation of ballet performers.In 1914,Jacques Roger,President of the Paris Opera,invited a group of artists,e.g Fokine,Pavlova,Bakst and so on to rehearse dance and design background cloting.
Paris Opera named Royal Conservatory formerly was built in 1671.This Theater was the world centre of ballet in the half of the eighteenth century to the nineteenth century and it was also the birthplace of the Romantic ballet.
In 1929, Diaghilev was dissolved,and Lifar became the main director and actor in 1930.
Serge Lifar has rehearsed more than 200 drama and small programs.
Lifar contributed greatly to the revitalization of the French ballet,under his auspices,the Paris Opera Ballet became one of the European dance groups with rich repertoire and strength.
After the twentieth century the seventies,the Paris Opera Ballet encouraged the young director to creative new exploration。When Nureyev became artistic director,he has done o lot of useful efforts to enhance the traditional repertoire of classic ballet performances.
Dance school attached to the Paris Opera Ballet was built in 1713,is one of the Europe’s oldest dance schools,with a high international reputation.
From the beginning of the twentieth century,many ballet groups appeared in France except Paris Opera,e.g the Monte Carlo new Ballet,the Champs Elysees Theatre and Paris Ballet.After the fifties,some small dance troupes even appeared ,they explored new topics.
