How to take care of your pointe shoes?

Remove dirt from shoes with cleaning fluid or surgical spirits after each class. You can use an old toothbrush or soft cloth.

Scrape off resin if it has been used, or any polish picked up on the shoe.

Fold the heel portion over towards the centre of the shoe, then fold over the wings (sides) and wind the ribbons around the shoe.

Let the shoes dry.

You can stuff the block with paper to help keep its shape. Store pointe shoes in a material bag, not a plastic bag. Some dance shops sell special pointe shoe bags made of mesh material, which allow the shoes to “breathe”.
